Sólvangur is an authentic horse breeding farm in South Iceland where people can meet the Icelandic horse, visit the stable, drink coffee or enjoy refreshments at the Stable Café, take riding lessons or even stay for a few nights in the peaceful countryside. The farm is owned by a family with passion for horses and a lot of experience and knowledge in the field. Today there are around 60 horses on the farm, as well as some dogs, cats and a bunny. The horses are well trained quality horses and many of them have been successful in competitions. Sólvangur is the place to visit if you love horses or even if you are just a little curious about them, as the Sólvangur team strives to educate and give people the chance to get closer to the Icelandic horse.

About us:
We are first and foremost a family with passion for horses and a lot of experience and knowledge in the field. We have lived at Sólvangur since 2001 breeding, training and selling horses. We have also been teaching riders in all levels and judging horses in many countries.
Who are we? The family consists of Elsa Magnúsdóttir and Pjetur N. Pjetursson, their daughter Sigga Pje (Sigríður Pjetursdóttir) and her daughters Elsa Kristín and Berta Sóley. Sigga and Elsa run the farm while Pjetur works elsewhere - although working hard as well on the farm after his daily routine.
Our vision is to educate people about the Icelandic horse and teach riders how to reach there goals through fair training methods, built on the training scales, with the emphasises on building up a happy, strong, healthy and self carrying horse. We believe that every horse should have the change to be the best possible version of it self and to reach that goal, riders must concentrate on them self and be willing to improve their riding skills continuously by educating themselves and gathering more tools for the "tool box". That is why we also use every opportunity to improve our knowledge and take riding lessons, both here in Iceland and abroad - and we know that great horsemanship is an endless and exciting educational journey!!!
