Sólvangur Icelandic Horse CenterSólvangur is located beside Eyrarbakki in the south of Iceland, only 60 km from the city of Reykjavik and 10 km from the town of Selfoss. The owners of the farm Elsa Magnúsdóttir a successful rider and trainer and Pjetur N. Pjetursson international Feif judge live there among there daughter Sigríður Pjetursdóttir who is also a successful rider and trainer and her husband Grétar Matthíasson. And they have two little girls called Berta Sóley and Elsa Kristín.
At Sólvangur we can offer accommodation or arrange one in Eyrarbakki and guests are welcome to visit us and stay at the farm to become acquainted with our facilities, our horses and training methods. The facilities are very good and there is for an example, a big stable, riding ring, pace track, a dressage arena and a small indoor riding arena. It is also nice to ride in the beautiful surroundings of the farm. |
Horses for sale, training, riding courses, etc.
At Sólvangur we offer training for horses, sales service and riding courses. Our farm also offers many other various recreation possibilities regarding the Icelandic horse, like special riding tours and shows. We train horses all year round and we strive to have all types of horses for sale, trained and ready to be shown. We also offer professional assistance in finding the right horse for each rider.

Breeding
At Sólvangur we pay special attention to horse breeding and training allthough we also breed sheep and chicken. The breeding of horses started in the year 2001 so we are relatively new in that field. But so far so good, we already have gotten a number of good competition horses and we have also had good success in the breeding area as well. We get about 9 foals every year out of specially selected mares and we only have our mares served by high judged stallions. Our main focus in horse breeding is to breed impressive, beautiful, cleargated horses with high movements and a nice character.
